Q: What is a charter school?
A: Charter schools are independently-operated public schools that have the freedom to design classrooms that meet their scholars’ needs. All charter schools operate under a contract with a charter school authorizer – usually a nonprofit organization, government agency, or university – that holds them accountable to the high standards outlined in their “charter.”

Q: Is there an enrollment fee?
A: No. There is no fee to enroll or attend Houston Classical Charter school. We are a tuition-free school. As a public school, we receive state and federal funding and we also rely on private funding from our supporters.

Q: If my child is an English-Language learner, are they allowed to enroll?
A: Yes, we welcome English Language Learners. We believe our focus on literacy will especially benefit our scholars who are English Language Learners.

Q: What grades do you offer?
A: We are currently accepting for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. We will expand one grade every year so that eventually we will grow to K through 8th grade.

Q: How do you select students?
A: Scholars are admitted in the order in which they submit enrollment forms. If we have more enrollment forms than spots, admission will be decided by random lottery.

Q: How and when do I enroll?
A: We are currently accepting enrollment for the 2021 - 2022 school year. Please visit www.houstonclassical.org to submit a request or visit our school to pick up an application.

Q: When will I find out when my child is accepted?
A: If we are oversubscribed, our lottery will take place in June 2021. Families will be contacted, via email and phone call, within 24 hours of our lottery.

Q: Do you provide transporation?
A: Yes, we intend to provide transportation for the 2021-22 school year. Also, the Metro Bus Route 075 - Eldridge stops right in front of our campus. Visit this link to view the map and bus route.
